Spring Aeration

Welp, I already failed at posting a new blog every Wednesday… I am a day late. Anyway, I have had a lot of calls recently about when to start aerating. I recommend April through May. June is sometimes still acceptable so long as the temperatures aren’t too high already. Most importantly, in the spring, is that the ground is thawed. It probably is thawed by now, but considering the grass isn’t going to start growing until at least April 1st there is no reason to aerate today. Additionally, make sure you get down a good organic fertilizer, as I previously mentioned. This summer we will have some watering restrictions, and an organic fertilizer and good quality aeration are two ways of genuinely helping your turf fight the water shortage.
