Soil Temperatures & Aeration

There comes a time where aeration is no longer a good thing- and that time happened yesterday. Once soil temperatures rise above 65 degrees aerating your lawn can actually be harmful. It can rapidly dry it out, and it gives weeds and pests a great opportunity to take advantage.

On another note, I always try to remind everyone how the grass grows and when. Once the soil temperatures reach 77 degrees the roots no longer grow and the grass simply sustains itself. That being said, make sure you get good water down the next couple of weeks and a good organic fertilizer down. You don’t want to be playing catch up all season…
